Dr. (HC) A.M. Fatwa

Andi Mappetahang Fatwa or A.M. Fatwa was born in Bone on February 12, 1939. A.M. Fatwa is a politician and statesman who has extensive experience. Having crisscrossed in the struggle for justice, he then joined the political parties, A.M. Fatwa was re-elected as Indonesian Senator from Jakarta in 2014 -2019 with the amount of 47.5601 votes. 

Prior to joining DPD RI in the year 2009 - 2014, AM Fatwa had served as Vice Chairman of MPR in 2004 - 2009 and Vice Chairman of DPR from 1999 - 2004. 

Due to his expertise in matters of diplomacy, AM Fatwa often trusted to lead a delegation to a number of foreign countries. He also had the role in Indonesian diplomatic relations with China, pioneered the opening of the Indonesian Embassy in Tripoli Libya, and became Coordinator of Parliamentary Bilateral Cooperation Group Indonesia and Portugal. 

He had achieved various awards, such as the Indonesian Record Museum (MURI) that gave him an award as the most productive MPs wrote a book, in addition to the award for the longest pledoi written in prison during the New Order. On his way of thinking and devotion to the community, especially in the field of school education, AM Fatwa awarded the title Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Jakarta (UNJ) on June 16, 2009.
