28 September 2022 oleh admin

JAKARTA- Member of BULD DPR RI Hasan Basri, reminded the regional government and all parties regarding the importance of regional spatial planning in the implementation of mining activities.

"Every activity that will be carried out by the regional government or the state will definitely refer to spatial planning, so this must be the concern of all relevant parties when preparing spatial planning," said Hasan Basri.

In addition, Hasan Basri emphasized that mining companies that obtain permits to carry out mining activities in Indonesia are consistent in maintaining the quality of the environment around mining areas.

According to him, without this commitment, both humans and animals and the surrounding fauna will be damaged and extinct.

This statement was conveyed by Hasan Basri while attending the BULD DPD RI Hearing with the Director General of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Director General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation at the Parliament Building, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (28/09/2022).

“Even pollution and environmental damage have a negative impact on humans, such as disease and natural disasters. Efforts are needed to prevent environmental damage. If it is not managed properly, it has a great potential to reduce the quality of the environment and affect human health," said HB, the nickname for the Senator from North Kalimantan.

Hasan Basri, who currently serves as Chair of Committee III DPD RI, emphasized that mining companies keep their promises to preserve the environment as stated in the AMDAL.

In the future, he proposes to make a matrix of promises to protect the environment, so that it becomes a reference for evaluating the company's commitment to the environment.

"We hope that a matrix will be made containing the promise (commitment to protecting the environment). So, it can be measured. Everything is returned to the rules, as well as the supervisory function, what we hold is the rules. If the violation was due to negligence or other reasons, then we will see the matrix of the promise." said Hasan Basri.

Hasan Basri, who is familiarly called HB, asked the government to play an active role in supervising mining activities that could threaten the safety of lives and have a negative impact on the environment.

Furthermore, he also asked for the application of good mining practices or GMP as something that is absolute in every mining activity.

"In addition, the company should also be responsible for improving the standard of living of the people in the surrounding environment to minimize incidents like this," said Hasan Basri.

For information, the meeting discussed national policies in the field of Mineral and Coal mining, New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, as well as their implications for environmental mining management policies in the regions.

Present included the Chairman and Members of BULD DPD RI, Acting Director General of Mineral and Coal, Secretary of Directorate General of New, Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation along with staff and other invited guests. (**)
