JAKARTA, dpd.go.id - Starting in 2023, the DPD RI highlighted various economic policies that have been taken by the government. One of them is the increase in non-subsidized fuel, the elimination of electricity subsidies for the 450 to 900 volt amperes class, and the increase in the price of basic commodities.

"Entering 2023, we need to continue to pay close attention to the increase in the price of non-subsidized fuel, electricity and basic commodities so that it does not have a negative effect on economic growth and adds to the burden on society," said Vice Chairman of DPD RI Nono Sampono at the opening of the 7th Plenary Session of the Session Period III Year 2022-2023 at Nusantara V Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday (9/1).

Nono Sampono asked the government to be more transparent in disseminating policies so as not to cause unrest in society. For this reason, the government also needs to think about developing alternative energy sources and distributing electricity to the less fortunate. "It is necessary to develop alternative energy sources to reduce the economic burden due to the removal of electricity subsidies," he said.

In addition, the DPD RI also urged the government to carry out market operations on a regular basis in controlling the prices of basic commodities and controlling the stability of the supply of goods in the community, especially after Christmas and New Year (NATARU). "For this reason, the leadership of the DPD RI has assigned Committee II to coordinate with relevant ministries, especially natural disasters and price stability for people's basic needs," explained the senator from Maluku.

On the past (30/12/2022), continued Nono Sampono, the government had officially revoked the policy of Imposing Restrictions on Community Activities (PPKM) related to the Covid-19 pandemic. This decision was of course taken by the government after conducting an in-depth study and taking into account the increasingly controlled pandemic situation. "Even though the PPKM policy has been officially revoked, DPD RI reminds all people and components of the nation to remain careful and increase awareness and vigilance in dealing with the impact of Covid-19," he hoped.

Recess Report

DPD RI member from West Sumatra Province Alirman Sori hopes that DPD RI will fight for village funds so that they can be used independently both for village heads and nagari. Because based on Presidential Regulation No. 104 of 2021 is no longer up to the village head so it cannot be managed optimally. "Currently 40 percent is used for social purposes, 20 percent is for animal husbandry, agriculture and fisheries, 8 percent is for Covid-19, and the rest is just being managed by the village head. This has disrupted village effectiveness," he explained.

Meanwhile, DPD RI Member from Lampung Province Jihan Nurlela highlighted fishing in the high seas using a 30 GT motor boat. According to him, this is very detrimental to small fishermen in looking for fish in the sea. "We are highlighting fishing on the high seas and the use of 30 GT motor boats because it is detrimental to small fishermen," he added.

On the same occasion, DPD RI Member from Riau Province Muhammad Gazali explained that village heads in Riau asked for a more flexible management of village funds. Because so far there are still many village heads who are still confused about managing village funds so that they cannot be used optimally. "So far it has been very difficult to use village funds so they cannot be used to help the village. So the village head asked DPD RI to make village fund management more flexible," he hoped. (*)
