LaNyalla: This Nation Shouldn't Only be Hosts for Foreign Investors

SURABAYA, dpd.go.id - The chairman of the DPD RI, AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, firmly requested that this nation not become a host for foreign investors by only issuing permits. According to him, the government must be able to manage the wealth of natural resources (SDA) for the welfare of the community.

When giving a Public Lecture on Nationality and Entrepreneurship Insights at Hayam Wuruk Perbanas University Surabaya, Wednesday (19/10/2022), LaNyalla said the position of the state is no longer absolutely controlling over the earth, water, and natural resources.

“The state only functions like a host, only as a giver of permits for concessions granted to national private companies who have already shared shares with foreign private companies. In fact, a country with a comparative advantage in natural resources, such as Indonesia, should prioritize Non-Tax State Revenue or PNBP," he said.

The senator from East Java considered the current condition very ironic. Because, as a country with a wealth of natural resources on earth and at sea, its people are increasingly poor and vulnerable to becoming poor.

"On that basis I offer the idea to reorganize the direction of the nation's journey. I have written this idea in the book Roadmap to Restore Sovereignty and Realize People's Welfare," said LaNyalla.

LaNyalla explained, this nation must remember and reread the thoughts of the founding fathers of the nation. About the democratic system and the economic system that is most suitable for a super pluralistic nation and a nation rich in natural resources.

"We must return to Pancasila so that we do not become a nation that is disobedient to the founding fathers of the nation, does not become a nation that is uprooted from its national roots and does not become a nation that loses its identity and character," he said.

According to LaNyalla, the disappearance of the nation's ideology began when there was a change in the Constitution during the period from 1999 to 2002.

"I understand the situation at that time. Where this nation has a common sense to do an anti-thesa to what happened in the New Order era. It's the same with the situation in the era of 1966 and 1967, where the people at that time wanted an anti-thesa against what took place in the Old Order era," said LaNyalla.

However, the practice carried out by the Old Order and the New Order was a deviation from the values of the Pancasila Democratic System.

"This means that the original 1945 Constitution does need to be perfected. Because there is still room for irregularities to occur, which has been proven to have occurred in the Old Order and New Order eras. But it has not been completely replaced," he said.

"But what we did from 1999 to 2002 was to completely replace the original 1945 Constitution into a new Basic Law. Because the contents of its articles have changed more than 95 percent," he added.

The condition, continued LaNyalla, was very dangerous. Long before this nation became independent, on August 31, 1928, Education fighter Ki Hajar Dewantoro had warned that if students are not taught with nationalism and nationalism, then in the future, it is very likely that they will become our opponents.

"Because the destruction of the collective memory of a nation can be done by non-military war methods. But by dividing the unity, influencing, controlling and controlling the minds and hearts of the nation's citizens. That's why we become less alert and fail to achieve the national goals and objectives of the nation," he explained.

This public lecture was attended by the Chancellor of UHW Perbanas Surabaya, Dr. Yudi Sutarso SE, MSi, the Vice Chancellors, Deans and students. Meanwhile, the Chairman of the DPD RI came with the Chairman of the Surabaya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, M Ali Affandi. (*)
