dpd.go.id - DPD RI member from Central Kalimantan Muhammad Rakhman asked the central government to immediately remove the Meningitis vaccine mandatory requirement for prospective Umrah pilgrims.

He considered that the regulation was irrelevant and was just a trick by the government which led to a vaccine procurement project and no more seeking results from PNBP for the state. This is because the Government of Saudi Arabia itself does not even require the Meningitis vaccine to enter the country.

"I ask the central government to abolish this regulation. This requirement is like a trick to seek money from Muslims who want to perform umrah because the fees for meningitis injections become PNBP for the state. And it is clear that this is a vaccine procurement project, while the Saudi Arabian government itself does not I have checked it," said Muhammad Rakhman, Thursday (29/9/2022).

He also said that the meningitis vaccine is currently rare in Indonesia. Apart from that, the distribution of vaccines is also considered to be uneven in each district and province, thus triggering new problems for prospective Umrah pilgrims.

"If this vaccine were easy to obtain, cheap, affordable, and available at KKP and private clinics according to the Minister of Health's regulations, then I would not question this mandatory regulation. The vaccine is difficult to obtain, but the application of the rules is strict. The KKP and the Ministry of Health should understand that there is For problems like this, there must be policies and relaxation of rules," said the Amphuri advisory board.

Rakhman also alluded to the failure of the Umrah pilgrims to leave Surabaya's Juanda Airport. He hopes that this incident will serve as a lesson for the government so that it does not happen again in the future.

"The ICV inspection by the KKP, which did not match the working hours and flight schedule, made me feel strange. Just because of not passing the KKP inspection, the congregation could fail to fly. I hope the Minister of Health evaluates the KKP leadership at Juanda Airport for making noise in the last few months," said he.

Furthermore, Rakhman asked the government to review the rules that had been made to make it easier for Muslims to worship in the holy land. So that there is no impression of obstruction.

"Muslims should make it easier for Muslims to go for Umrah. If it's like this, there will be an unfavorable impression. I think evidence of meningitis can be made online, such as Peduli Protect, so that all Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage activities can be expedited. In addition, private clinics must also be supplied with this vaccine, so that government succession can be carried out," said Rakhman.(*)
