Filep Wamafma: Education is a Key for Papua's Future, Don't Let Our Children Drop Out of School

MANOKWARI, dpd.go.id - West Papua Senator Dr. Filep Wamafma invites all levels of society to prioritize the education of native Papuan children so they don't drop out of school. According to him, education is the key to giving birth to a golden generation of Papuans to determine the future success of the land of Papua.

"The current golden generation of Papua must become a tree that is upright and sturdy, they are prepared as well as determining the fate of Papua in the future. Because when Papuan children don't go to school, what about the future of Papua?” said Filep Wamafma while attending the invitation to the thanksgiving service for the extended family of Mansawan, Makbon and Manufandu, Monday (2/1/2023) evening.

As an academic at STIH Manokwari, Filep always emphasizes the importance of education for indigenous Papuans in each of his work agendas to students, communities, and local governments.

He emphasized that the land of Papua must advance in the hands of the sons and daughters of Papua. According to him, it is the Papuan generation that will become leaders on their own land, bringing progress and prosperity to the people of Papua.

Therefore, as the leader of the DPD RI, Filep always motivates indigenous Papuan children at all levels of education, including Papuan students who are studying outside the region to seriously complete their education and return to build their hometowns.

"To parents, eat or not, we all remember that we must prioritize our children's schools, education is the key to changing the future for the better," said Filep.

Apart from that, according to him, more attention should be paid to native Papuan students, especially with the allocation coming from the Special Autonomy Fund. Not only that, Filep continued, one of the allocations for the Special Autonomy Fund was indeed prepared for native Papuan children to be able to go to school free of charge and to support education services in the land of Papua.
