SIDOARJO, dpd.go.id – The Chairman of the DPD RI, AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, alluded to Jhon Perkins' confession in his book on Economic Hit Man, while giving a Guest Lecture on Nationality and Entrepreneurship Insights at Sidoarjo Muhammadiyah University (UMSIDA), East Java, Wednesday (19/10/ 2022).

According to LaNyalla, John Perkins wrote that there has been a systematic movement since the 80's, to make this country have to break away from control over Natural Resources and production branches which are important for the livelihood of many people.

"That's what makes this country stuck with foreign debt for development. The state seems to be forced to hand over the control to the National Private or Foreign Private, or those who are united through share holders," said LaNyalla.

In addition, there is no longer a clear separation between public goods and commercial goods or quasi between the two.

"The state is just like a host or master of ceremony alias MC for investors who will dredge up natural resources and forest land in Indonesia," he said.

LaNyalla emphasized that this fact was undeniable. Because it is evident that various privatizations and privatizations of production branches are important for the livelihood of many people.

"Then another fact is that the Indonesian State Budget is always minus. So it must be covered with foreign debt which has very high interest. This year we have to pay only Rp. 400 trillion in debt interest. another around Rp 700 trillion," he said.

"That's why I offer the idea to reorganize the direction of this nation's journey in the future. I have written this idea in the book Roadmap to Restore Sovereignty and Realize People's Welfare," he added.

In his idea, LaNyalla wants to restore the position of the people as part of the owner of sovereignty over the territory, including the resources in the area.

So that the involvement of the people is in accordance with the concept of a joint business economy formulated by the founding fathers of the nation as stated in Article 33 of the original text of the 1945 Constitution and its explanation. Before the Constitutional Amendments were made in 1999 to 2002 ago.

"Similarly, the state's position must be absolute control over the earth, water and natural resources. It does not only function as a giver of permits for concessions granted to national private companies who have shared shares with foreign private companies," he said.

The chairman of the DPD RI was present at Umsida with the chairman of the Surabaya Chamber of Commerce and Industry, M Ali Affandi. From Umsida's side figures who were present are the Vice Chancellor for Field I, Dr. Hana Catur Wahyuni, ST., MT, Vice Chancellor III, Dr. Eko Hardi Ansyah, Deans, Vice Deans and students. (*)
