YOGYAKARTA, dpd.go.id – As many as 12 tourist objects in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) have used non-cash transactions. The Chairman of the DPD RI, AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, hopes that other tourist destinations can follow this.

According to LaNyalla, who is on a working visit in Yogyakarta, the use of non-cash transactions in society is increasing. Tourists are no exception, who now prefer to use financing applications such as Ovo, Dana, Qris, Gopay, and others.

For this reason, LaNyalla hopes that tourist areas can be supported by adequate internet networks. So that tourist activity becomes more optimal.

“I think the trend that is happening globally has also changed due to the pandemic. The use of digital money, debit cards, or using financing applications is very close to the community including tourists. Therefore, tourism area managers must be adaptive to this trend," he said, Monday (16/1/2023).

The senator from East Java added that non-cash transactions for payment of entrance fees for tourist attractions are also quite interesting, even though they are only around one percent.

“Paying non-cash is much more practical. In addition, tourists are also safer because they don't carry cash," he said.

“But the weakness of using this system is that it depends on the signal and internet strength. Therefore, I encourage strengthening the internet network so that it is more even, so that not only payment of entrance fees uses digital transactions, but also other transactions such as culinary, transportation, and others," he continued.

In addition, non-cash transactions can also be anticipated when tourists run out of cash funds. “At least he can still enjoy the holidays using non-cash funds. This method not only helps tourists, but also maintains income for tourist attractions," he said. (*)
