JAKARTA, dpd.go.id - The name of the Chairman of the DPD RI, AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, is again the candidate to become the General Chair of PSSI. The name LaNyalla was carried by the PSSI East Java Provincial Association.

LaNyalla himself was present at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium to watch the semifinals of the first leg of the AFF Cup, Friday (6/1/2023).

According to the general chairman of PSSI East Java Provincial Association, Ahmad Riyadh, his party and all the management of PSSI East Java Provincial Association are determined to support LaNyalla. He said, the figure of LaNyalla was very worthy to return to lead the highest parent organization of football in this country.

"I think the figure of LaNyalla is very worthy of being the general chairman of PSSI. His commitment to the development of football is no longer in doubt," he said.

Not only that, Ahmad Riyadh said LaNyalla could revive Indonesian football.

"He is a figure who can bring Indonesian football on the track. He has the capacity to improve Indonesian football so that it can be cleaner and more accomplished," he said.

Therefore, Ahmad Riyadh said he was happy that LaNyalla was coming to the GBK Stadium to directly support the National Team. "I'm very happy to see him back at the stadium. It's chilling to see him. I miss his figure. And I think Indonesian footballers also miss his work to revive Indonesian football," he said.

LaNyalla was noted to have served as General Chairperson (Ketum) of PSSI-KPSI for the 2011-2013 period. He was elected through an Extra Ordinary Congress initiated by the Indonesian Football Rescue Committee (KPSI), Mercure Hotel, Ancol, Jakarta, Sunday 18 March 2011.

Then served as Deputy Chairman of PSSI for the 2013-2015 period. And served as Chairman of PSSI from 2015 to 2016.

At the GBK Stadium, when asked about support from the East Java Provincial Association, the man from Bugis who was born in Jakarta and raised in Surabaya admitted that he was ready physically and mentally.

"If the football community and voters still want me to return, of course I'm ready physically and mentally," said LaNyalla after the match between the Indonesian national team and Vietnam.

As is known, the Indonesian National Team won a 0-0 draw when hosting Vietnam in Leg 1 of the AFF Cup Semifinals at the Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (6/1/2023) afternoon. However, the Chairman of DPD RI, AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, is still optimistic that the National Team will advance to the final.

LaNyalla, who watched the match live, appreciated the struggle of the National Team players. "I think the struggle of the players should be appreciated. Because they were able to withstand a team that is quite strong in Southeast Asia, where football is developing very rapidly," he said.

LaNyalla, who also served as PSSI East Java Asprov Chair, looked excited to see several opportunities for the national team that failed to score. "In terms of the organization of the game, I think it's been good. Indeed, finishing is still a problem. Several opportunities in the first and second half should have been goals," he said.

LaNyalla also appreciated the 50 thousands of Indonesian supporters at SUGBK who always encouraged Asnawi et al. "The supporters were extraordinary. They were orderly and never stopped singing, boosting the enthusiasm of the players," he said.

In the second leg later, it will be Indonesia's turn to visit the Vietnam headquarters. LaNyalla hopes that the national team players will focus and fight tooth and nail to win the game.

"There is no need to overly regret the results obtained at home today. It is better to evaluate and make improvements, to focus on the next match. We are optimistic that later on at the opponent's cage, Indonesia will win," he said.(*)
