JAKARTA, dpd.go.id - The circulation of illegal skin care and cosmetic products that are sold online is still very widespread. Chairman of DPD RI, AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti, asked the National Agency of Drug and Food Control (BPOM) to act immediately.

According to LaNyalla, the distribution of cosmetics is very dangerous to the health of users, especially women.

"I ask the BPOM as a supervisory agency to immediately make efforts to prevent its circulation, by tightening supervision. Including conducting cyber patrols, especially on social media platforms," said LaNyalla, Saturday (7/1/2023).

According to LaNyalla, BPOM must work together with the Police to take action. This is because apart from cosmetic manufacturers, accounts selling products must also be prosecuted.

"I agree, the perpetrators must be dealt with strictly according to the law, so that there is a deterrent effect. The product is withdrawn from the market, then the selling accounts must be suspended," he said.

The senator from East Java also asked the BPOM and related agencies to educate both sellers and users.

"The public must be given an understanding of what the original product is like, so they know. Because illegal products that have not yet been approved by the BPOM are very dangerous," he said. (*)
