Following Candidacy of the PSSI’s Chairman, LaNyalla is Ready to Eradicate the Football Mafia

JAKARTA, dpd.go.id - The name of AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti enlivened the PSSI Chairman's Exchange. The chairman of DPD RI registered himself after Friday prayers. There were three things that LaNyalla conveyed regarding his determination to nominate again as the PSSI’s Chairman.

Apart from wanting to restore the glory of Indonesian football, LaNyalla is also determined to eradicate the football mafia which, according to him, is still rampant.

"When I was the general chairman of PSSI, the football mafia didn't dare to show their teeth. I brushed it off. I'm sure the voters would join hands with me to destroy the football mafia, especially within PSSI's internal circle," said LaNyalla after registering, Friday (13/1 /2023).

On the other hand, his determination is of course to restore the glory of Indonesian football. LaNyalla said, when he was the chairman of PSSI, the Indonesian national team was flying on the international stage.

"When I held PSSI, we won the U-19 AFF. Our office was also luxurious. The development of referees and players went well. And now I will revive it. Now we must return to football being managed by professionals. We must restore the glory of national football. ," said LaNyalla.

LaNyalla recalled his work at PSSI. "I still remember PSSI's struggle in 2012-2015 which started with the existence of an original PSSI organization but fake members. Then I created a KPSI whose organization was fake but had real members. After several meetings, the two kept going," said LaNyalla.

Not long after, finally an Extraordinary Congress (KLB) was held. At that time Johar Arifin served as General Chair of PSSI, while LaNyalla as his deputy in charge of the National Team Agency.

"In the KLB, IPL and ISL were also combined. I was elected as General Chairperson of PSSI by obtaining 94 votes from 107 voters. The remaining 13 votes were divided among other candidates.

It was when he served as General Chairman of PSSI that disaster happened. The Minister of Youth and Sports at that time, Imam Nahrawi froze PSSI.

"We continued to fight. We won at PTUN and appealed to cassation. But then there was an extraordinary incident, I was criminalized. I was accused of a corruption case in the East Java Kadin grant funds, although in the end this was not proven and I was completely acquitted. I then became Chairman of the DPD RI," he said.

It was from there that LaNyalla felt that he still owed the voters who gave me a mandate by choosing him as the General Chair of PSSI at that time. "Now I have been summoned. It is time for me to pay my debt to the voters as a trustee at that time. What is certain is that my task has not been completed and it is time for us to fix everything," said LaNyalla. (*)
