SURABAYA, dpd.go.id- The Sidoarjo Labor Alliance's plan to report the Governor of East Java to the Ombudsman regarding alleged violations of the East Java 2023 UMK determination, came to the attention of the Chairperson of the DPD RI, AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti.

The senator from East Java asked the workers to cancel the plan. LaNyalla suggested that the two parties meet to get a win-win solution.

"We have to take wise steps to solve the MSE problem. It's better to ask the Governor to talk about it and take steps that are a win-win solution. Don't take actions that can cause turmoil. Because the impact can spread," said LaNyalla, during a recess at East Java, Friday (30/12/2022).

He also hopes that this problem will not disrupt the production process which could affect other aspects.

"It must also be remembered that currently we are still in the stage of economic recovery and are still vulnerable and unstable," he said.

The alleged violation submitted by the Sidoarjo Labor Alliance stems from the Governor's Decree on increasing the UMK which is considered not in accordance with Permenaker (Minister of Labor Regulations) Number 18 of 2022 concerning the determination of the minimum wage for 2023 which is set at a maximum of 10 percent.

Nine cities/regencies have proposed an average increase of more than 7 percent. However, the increase has ranged from 3 to 6 percent. (*)
