YOGYAKARTA, dpd.go.id - Chairman of DPD RI AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti emphasized that one of the important elements in football development is the availability of a benchmarking training field or according to professional football standards.

This was conveyed when inaugurating the operation of the Maguwoharjo Soccer Field (MSF) in Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Tuesday (17/1/2023).

"The feet of our children, or our footballers, must be trained in the same place as an international standard football stadium. Because from statistics, wrong ball passes or passing errors are often caused by the habit of practicing on an unqualified field," said LaNyalla.

Hence, LaNyalla appreciates the efforts made by Gede Widiade as the head of Pancoran Soccer Field, the entity that manages the Maguwoharjo Soccer Field sports facilities.

"What the Pancoran Soccer Field is doing is a concrete contribution to increasing Indonesia's sporting achievements, especially football. And we need many other Gede Widiades in this Republic," continued the former PSSI chairman.

According to LaNyalla, the Indonesian government should also support and give appreciation. In accordance with Presidential Instruction No. 3 of 1999, concerning the Acceleration of National Football Development, one way is to increase the number of standardized soccer fields for practice.

Based on the spirit of improving fundamental matters in national football, LaNyalla is determined to receive support from several PSSI members to run as PSSI General Chair at the Congress next month. Even though there are dozens of other jobs in football development that fundamentally have to be done by PSSI as the parent organization of football in Indonesia.

"For that, PSSI must be filled with people who really have a passion for advancing football. And have a determination to leave a legacy for national football," he said.

Because of that, LaNyalla welcomed the presence of several football activists and administrators in the regions, as well as former national players who would join in registering as part of the PSSI board later.

"It is people like these who should be in PSSI. Because they will seriously think about the future of Indonesian football in terms of quality and achievements," he said.

On this occasion, LaNyalla also emphasized his commitment to improving national football, if he is elected as PSSI chairman.

"Indonesian football doesn't need guts, but Nyalla," joked LaNyalla, accompanied by applause from the audience.

Meanwhile Gede Widiade, Chairman of the Pancoran Soccer Field, thanked the DPD RI Chairman for opening the MSF and attending with members of the RI DPD.

"The presence of Mr. LaNyalla is proof that he is very concerned about the development of football in the country," he said.

According to him, MSF aims to assist the government in supporting the improvement of football achievements.

"Facilities and infrastructure are fundamental. Development without good infrastructure will not produce good results," he said.

The Chairman of the DPD RI was accompanied by Senators from Yogyakarta, M. Afnan Hadikusumo and Hilmi Muhammad, Bustami Zainudin (Senator Lampung), Andi Muh. Ihsan (South Sulawesi) and Fachrul Razi (Aceh).

Several figures who were also present are the Director of Community Land Empowerment of BPN RI, Dwi Budi Martono, Kakanwil (head of regional office) of BPN DIY, Rudi Prihantoro, Head of DIY Asprov Ahmad Syauqi Soeratno, Chair of Jakmania Dicky Sumarno, Joni from Persipa Pati, Bambang (representative of PSCS Cilacap).
